Hey ,
Go look at your LinkedIn headline for a second.
If it says something like “Results-driven professional, open to opportunities,” you already know how that goes.
Recruiters scroll right past it, because a headline that could belong to anyone doesn’t tell them why they should message you.
Now think about the people who get messaged every week.
Their headline names 1 role, like a project manager who only runs hospital software rollouts. A recruiter with that exact opening reads it and knows in 2 seconds that this is the person to message.
That person doesn’t know more than you do. They're just specific at what they do best.
I’m bringing this up because your online portfolio (your YouTube channel) is a HEADLINE too, just a much bigger one. If you make it about everything you’ve ever done at work, it reads like “open to opportunities,” and the employers and clients you want scroll past.
If you aim it at one role, it reads like the headline that gets the message, and the right people find you on their own.
I know the part you’re probably stuck on is which role to aim at. You’ve done more than 1 job, and every one of them feels like it could be the channel.
Look at Lara Hadry, a creator in my community. She didn’t make a channel about career advice in general. She made it about career coaching for project managers, which is one job title.
She started with about 800 subscribers, picked up over 600 more, and landed her first 10 paying clients.
