A friendly reminder, if you're biking to school with your child, please do not cut through the bus loop during arrival and dismissal. For everyone's safety, please use the Kiss & Ride loop/area to pick-up or drop off your student. Thanks you so much for your cooperation!
It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Clermont’s former Registrar, Ms. Katie Simmons.
Katie served in multiple roles across FCPS for over 40 years and built cherished relationships with generations of Clermont families before her retirement in June 2025. "Ms. Katie," as she was known to many, was an integral part of our school office for more than 35 years. She especially loved this time of year—welcoming students back to school and listening to them share stories about their summer adventures. Katie’s family will be holding her services in Louisiana. Please keep the Simmons family in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is committed to challenging all students through talent development and differentiated instruction. A continuum of Advanced Academic Program (AAP) services is available to students in Grades K-12 and is designed to match services to each student’s unique academic needs.
Identification for Subject-Specific and Part-Time AAP services occurs throughout the school year. Full-Time AAP services have two identification cycles:

Fall identification: Students in grades 3-7 who have enrolled in FCPS since January may be referred by October 15, 2026.

Spring identification: Any FCPS student in Grades 2-7 may be referred by December 15, 2026.
FCPS uses ability testing as one consideration in the holistic identification process for AAP services.
- All students in Grade 2 take the Naglieri General Ability Tests (NGAT).
- Students in Grades 3-6 who do not have a multi-domain ability test score take the NGAT.
- Students in Grades 3-6 may retake an ability test one time. Families may request the ability test retake by contacting Trevia Younger, School Testing Coordinator, at tryounger@fcps.edu by September 30.
Families are invited to attend Clermont’s AAP information meeting, led by Raechel Acosta, our Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART). The meeting will be held virtually on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 6-7pm. Please RSVP for this meeting. The meeting link will only be sent to those who have RSVP’d.

AAP Continuum of Services & Full-Time AAP Identification: Families will learn about the continuum of advanced academic services available to FCPS students. Families will also learn about the referral and identification processes for Full-Time AAP services.

Programas Académicos Avanzados
Las Escuelas Públicas del Condado de Fairfax (FCPS) están comprometidas a desafiar a todos los estudiantes a través del desarrollo del talento y la instrucción diferenciada. Una continuidad de servicios del Programa Académico Avanzado (AAP, por sus siglas en inglés) está disponible para los estudiantes de los grados K-12 y está diseñada para adaptar los servicios a las necesidades académicas únicas de cada estudiante.

Weather Happens, FCPS Is Ready
Virginia is no stranger to inclement weather. From severe thunderstorms to high winds to flooding, many different types of weather events can (and sometimes do) impact our schools. FCPS has a plan for each of these scenarios that prioritizes the safety of all our students and staff. What does FCPS do during a flood? What about a severe thunderstorm?
