VA Portland Veterans,

As we prepare for the I‑5 construction closure beginning September 11, we wanted to share our plans to help navigate expected delays.

Shuttle Service (Vancouver–Portland):

Below is our modified shuttle schedule from September 11 through October 16. Because traffic conditions will vary significantly, actual arrival and departure times may change throughout the day. We encourage Veterans to plan extra travel time and expect delays, especially during peak hours. Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) will adjust operations to help account for severe congestion:

• The earliest rides for North Portland and Vancouver will begin at 0900.
• All routes will include triple traffic buffers, reviewed and adjusted daily.
• Additional time will be added to all VTS and Special-Mode Transport (SMT) rides, with SMT expected to see the greatest impact due to its one‑on‑one service model.
• Return‑trip delays are anticipated and may affect clinic schedules.
• All drivers will use technology to help avoid the most affected areas. 

We will continue monitoring traffic conditions and refining these plans as patterns become more predictable. Thank you!
