Last week, I shouted out the new documentary, Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World. Here’s some of what you had to say:
Rosalie S. wrote: “How to choose a favorite Mary Oliver Poem?!! I’m an early riser and love her ‘Why I Wake Early,’ even committed it to memory, for it puts me in a good place to start the day.”
Nancy M. wrote: “During COVID, I did a lot of walking. It got me out of the house and I connected with neighbors, albeit at a distance. My anxiety levels were very high. So I started memorizing poems to recite as I walked to help quell the anxiety. One of the poems was Mary Oliver's ‘I Worried.’ Believe it or not, by reciting this poem as I walked, I became more calm and focused. To this day, I say this poem aloud or silently when I walk.”
John G. wrote: “I had the privilege to see the documentary, Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World, on Thursday in Waterville, ME. For one hour and 30 minutes, I was transported into her world. When she read the first part of ‘The Journey,’ my favorite poem, and one that has guided and inspired me many times, I started crying. What an amazing experience.”
See you next week!
