Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is taking additional steps this year to help ensure that our athletic events remain safe for students, families, staff, and community members by introducing security screenings of all spectators at our varsity football games.
We will be using the existing weapons screening systems that our students pass through every morning in our schools. In addition, we will be implementing a standardized bag policy to help support a smooth and efficient entry process. Students, family members, and all spectators are reminded that the following items are prohibited:
- Backpacks
- Purse
- Fanny pack
- Tote bags
- Outside food and beverage
- Sporting equipment (balls, bats, sticks, etc.)
- Any item prohibited by FCPS policy, or determined by event staff to present safety concerns
Approved bags are limited to:
- Clear plastic, vinyl, or pvc bags no larger than 12”6”x12”
- Small clutch bag no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”
- Medical and diaper bags permitted but subject to inspection
As a reminder, middle-school students and younger, must be accompanied by a responsible adult who remains with the student(s) at the event.
Our Boys Volleyball program is looking for 9th and 10th graders who are interested in joining our Program! If you are interested, please reach out to our Head Coach, Alicia Hawks at amhawks@fcps.edu
Game Day Rules: Let's Keep It Safe and Fun!
As we cheer on our Wolverines, we want to make sure everyone has a fun and safe time at the games:
-
No Powder
-
No Artificial Noise Makers: This includes whistles, bells, clappers, and thundersticks. (Cheerleaders are allowed to use megaphones, but fans are not.)
- No Horns or Speakers
- No Rushing The Field/Court
Let's Go Wolverines!
Sportsmanship: Please Lead by Example
We love the energy and excitement our fans bring to our games! When we come together to watch our teams compete, remember that good sportsmanship is a huge part of the fun.
At West Potomac, we count on our students, parents, and community members to show respect and set a positive example for everyone.
This means we need to cheer loud for our team, but we must be respectful to all the people around us. Please remember:
-
No Bad Language: Don't use curse words (profanity).
-
No Put-Downs: Do not say or do things that are mean or disrespectful to anyone. This includes the referees, the other team, the coaches, school staff, or other fans.
Showing respect is not a choice — it's an expectation. If someone breaks these rules, they could be asked to leave the game and school property.

FCPS Partners With FinalForms For Student Registration
Dear West Potomac Families,
We are very excited to announce that Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Student Activities and Athletics has partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management service, for student registration for athletics and activities.
FinalForms allows you to complete and sign athletic forms for your students online. FCPS and FinalForms have worked closely to ensure that your most sensitive information is safeguarded and meets all of FCPS’ rigorous data protection requirements.
Key Benefits of FinalForms:
-
Saves Time: FinalForms saves data year-to-year, meaning you will never need to enter the same information twice.
-
Pre-populates Data: Information will be pre-populated wherever possible for each of your students.
-
Easy Updates: You can review your data at any time to verify it is current. You will only be required to sign your forms once per year and after any updates.
What You Need to Do:
-
Check Your Email: All parents with students registered in grades 9-12 will receive a confirmation email from FinalForms delivered to the email address associated with the enrolling parent.
-
Check Spam: Please check your spam/junk folder. If the email is there, please "mark as safe" and add FinalForms to your contacts. West Potomac and the Office of Student Activities and Athletics will use this platform to communicate regularly with you throughout the school year.
-
Get Started: Once you receive the initial email, please review the attached Parent Playbook to get started.
Support & Next Steps:
Technical Help: If you need any support during the registration process, scroll to the bottom-right of the FinalForms page and click “Get Help”.
Missing Invitation: If you have not received your invitation email to create your FinalForms account, please reach out directly to the West Potomac Activities Office.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of West Potomac Athletics and Activities!
Sincerely,
Matt MacDonald-Director of Student Activities
