Iconographic convention surrounding evangelist portraits in illuminated manuscripts and illustrated printed books make the four writers of the canonical Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—some of the most recognizable figures in book history. The Rare Book and Special Collections Division has several examples of these portraits, which, when compared, reveal a diversity of endearing details used by artists to engage their viewers and bring these well-known subjects to life.

The Veterans History Project announces a new online exhibit featuring 22 collections from Navajo Code Talkers of World War II. Published in recognition of National Navajo Code Talkers Day on August 14th, this post explores the experiences that the Code Talkers describe in their oral history interviews.

On June 25, 2026, the government of Armenia approved a package of draft laws to amend the Law on Electronic Communications and establish a unified state system for registering and monitoring International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers for mobile phones. The proposed system would create a centralized database of IMEI numbers—the 15-digit identifiers assigned to mobile devices—to enable the registration and verification of mobile phones used in the country. According to the government, the reforms are intended to combat the illegal importation of mobile phones and the circulation of stolen and counterfeit devices.
