Hi iza,
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how we’ve misused the word "Community" in the online business world.
For a long time, we were told that a community was just a "folder of content" with a comment section attached. Or worse, a "growth-hacked" group of 10,000 strangers where everyone is shouting and no one is listening.
I believe we are entering a new era.
A community isn't a place where you go to consume more information. We are all "content-full." What we are is connection-starved.
Real community is a high-signal environment. It’s a dedicated home where your members don't just learn from you—they learn from each other. It’s where the "gold" of your network is caught in a sieve and turned into compound interest for everyone involved.
When I talk about being a Confident Host, I’m talking about moving away from the "Expert" (read: know-it-all) role. You don't need to be the sole derivative of value - the person who has all the right answers; you need to be the person who creates the environment where members support each other in deep transformation - with you as a guide.
Ask yourself this today: Is your current setup (the Facebook group, the Slack, the WhatsApp thread) actually facilitating connection, or is it just a place where you’re shouting into the wind?
If it feels like the latter, don’t worry. It just means you’ve outgrown your "hodgepodge" phase.
Talk soon, Bri
P.S. Ready to build something lasting? Let’s talk!
