Hello from your Bay Pines VA Healthcare System,
On Sunday, June 28, 2026, Bay Pines VA will host the 2026 National Veterans Golden Age Games Cycling Event at the C.W.Y. VAMC Campus. The event will begin at 7 a.m. and is expected to conclude no later than 1 p.m. There will be increased activity across campus for the duration of the event.
Read on for important information regarding impacts to parking lots, temporary road restrictions, and designated viewing areas. Please view the graphics at the bottom of this email for visual guides of the information below.
Parking and Traffic Impacts

Starting at noon on Saturday, June 27, parking lots 3A, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, and the St. Pete Regional Office parking lot (near building 46), will be closed. The lots are anticipated to reopen at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 28.

Parking lots 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 20, and 33 will remain open to staff, participants, and visitors.
- You are encouraged to allow additional travel time when traveling to campus.
- Golf cart shuttle services will be available to transport participants and visitors from more distant parking locations.

Temporary traffic interruptions should be expected along the cycling route. Police officers and event staff will safely direct vehicles and pedestrians throughout the event.
Temporary Road and Pedestrian Restrictions
Portions of campus roadways along the cycling route will be temporarily restricted. You are asked to remain alert, follow posted signage, and comply with directions from police officers, volunteers, and event personnel.
Access to the Bay Pines National Cemetery
The Bay Pines National Cemetery will not be accessible from 5 a.m. until noon on Sunday, June 28. Visitors requiring cemetery access are encouraged to plan accordingly.
Viewing Areas and Spectator Information
You are encouraged to support the Veteran athletes. The race will start and end in parking lot 14, near the Veterans Courtyard. This area will provide excellent opportunities to cheer on participants while maintaining a safe environment for all attendees. For your safety:
- Remain on the hospital side of the cycling route when viewing the races.
- Do not cross the course unless directed by event staff or police personnel.
- Follow all instructions from volunteers and designated crossing attendants.
- Use caution when traveling near race areas.
