Europe is not experiencing the worst of climate change—people near the equator, with higher temperatures, are naturally seeing higher highs. But warming is accelerating in Europe faster than on any other continent. As hard as it is to pinpoint the reason for any single weather event,
man-made climate change
clearly bears much of the blame.
And for Europe to do anything, on climate or otherwise, it will need to pick up the pace. This week

the aeons that it takes for a policy to make it through working groups, “trilogues”, impact assessments, courts, the European parliament and national governments to reach implementation. Many of Europe’s problems are too pressing for that to go on.
And Colombia has become the latest Latin American country to vote for the Trumpian right.
