With profound sadness, the Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) mourns the line of duty death of Corporal Barry Foust who passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, following a courageous battle with 9/11-related cancer. In this month’s News and Highlights from Across the Agency, Chief Penn reflects on Corporal Foust’s over 35-year career, his legacy within our agency and the Arlington community and our continued commitment to always honoring his sacrifice in service. The publication also features investigative highlights, crime and crash statistics, community engagement efforts and department news.

Announcements and Updates
ACPD is proud to announce the publication of the 2025 Annual Report. The report details many of the significant accomplishments achieved throughout the year in support of our department’s key initiatives of Crime Prevention and Control, Community Engagement, Transportation Safety and Employee Wellness and Development. This report also summarizes annual crime and crash statistics and provides an overview of multi-year trends in both categories.

Pride with the Police and National Night Out 2026!
Summer 2026 is going to be busy with opportunities to engage with members of ACPD. Mark your calendars for the following community engagement opportunities:
Pride with the Police (Thursday, June 25, 5-7 PM)
Join Arlington County police officers, firefighters, sheriff’s deputies and emergency management personnel at Freddie’s Beach Bar and Restaurant to celebrate the vibrant LGBTQ+ community that makes Arlington shine! Enjoy light refreshments, participate in LGBTQ+ bingo, discuss public safety concerns and connect in a welcoming and inclusive space—no speeches or agendas! National Night Out (Tuesday, August 4, 5-8 PM)
ACPD invites Arlington neighborhoods, businesses and organizations to join communities across the country in celebrating National Night Out! All events are hosted by neighborhood organizations, community groups and/or businesses. Registration is free and provides police officers, Arlington County leaders and other representatives an opportunity to attend events as time and circumstances permit. Please register no later than 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026!
