Summer

Fairfax County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services will continue providing summer meals to support children and families when school is not in session. Free meals are available to all children and teens 18 years of age and younger at designated FCPS summer meal sites, regardless of income or school enrollment. Meals are served onsite at participating locations from the Monday after school lets out through the Friday before the new school year begins.

New for 2026:

Educate Fairfax will fund meals for all adults at all FCPS open feeding sites, allowing families to dine together at participating locations.

Principals are encouraged to help share this information with families through newsletters, websites, social media, and end-of-year communications to ensure families are aware of meal access options during the summer months.

Instructional Services is supporting student learning over the summer. Resources are being curated on the Summer Learning Resources Webpage for students and families to review and practice previously taught content throughout the summer months. Draft communications are available for schools to personalize to communicate with families.

Resources are organized by grade level and aligned to the learning students experienced during the school year. Families can access the materials at any time to review concepts, practice skills, or explore new ideas at home. One of the resources being provided to help students in Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 to develop keyboarding skills this summer is TypingClub, which will be accessible through Clever.

Additional resources will continue to be added throughout June.

Fairfax County Public Schools will adopt new Mathematics Instructional Resources for Math 6 (middle school only) through Algebra 2 for the 2026-2027 school year. A review committee composed of community members, administrators, and teachers met to review materials submitted by vendors. The public is also invited to review the proposed resource.

The proposed resource for 6 (middle school only) through Algebra may be accessed in person and online from June 13, 2026, to July 12, 2026, for public feedback. Those reviewing instructional materials in person or online will provide feedback via a digital input form.

Hard copies of instructional materials will be available for review at Willow Oaks Welcome Center, Monday - Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Note: If review hours are needed outside of these hours, please email mathbasalreview@fcps.edu.
