Please be aware that a flyer and online post promoting “free athletic shoes from VA” is fraudulent and is not affiliated with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
This promotion did not originate from any official VA program, including VPRs, VA Central Office, Whole Health, or any VA-authorized initiative. Although the flyer lists the MyVA 1-800 number, the flyer itself is not authorized by VA and should not be shared or promoted.
Please take the following precautions:
- Do not share, forward, or repost the flyer.
- Do not provide any personal, financial, or health information in response to the promotion.
- Remind Veterans, family members, caregivers, and colleagues to verify questionable messages through trusted VA channels.
Staff should direct anyone with questions about the legitimacy of a VA communication to use official VA phone numbers, VA.gov, or their local VA facility.
If a Veteran reports that they shared personal information in response to this fake promotion, please encourage them to contact VSAFE at vsafe.gov or by calling 833-38V-SAFE for assistance and to report the scam.
Thank you for helping protect our Veterans, staff, and community from scams and misinformation.
