I think you should consider the lighter stain for the deck rather than the semi-transparent you were looking at last week. The lighter option will hold up better in direct sunlight and won't show wear as quickly. I've been reading up on different finishes and the consensus seems to be that lighter tones reflect UV rays more effectively. You'll still need to apply a sealer after the stain sets. I'd also suggest power washing the surface first and letting it dry completely for at least two days before you start. If you want to borrow my sprayer I can drop it off on Thursday evening just let me know what works for your schedule. The prep work is really what makes the difference with outdoor projects like this one.

The community garden meeting went well yesterday. We decided to rotate the crops this season to give the soil a break in the south beds. Tomatoes will go in the raised planters near the fence and peppers will take the center rows. I volunteered to coordinate the watering schedule since I'm around most weekends. If you're still interested in helping with the compost bins we could use someone to turn the piles every two weeks. I'll send out a sign-up sheet later this week for the mulch delivery next month. We also talked about adding a small herb section near the bench area which several people liked the idea of.
