Yeah I finally made it up to the ridge last weekend. The trail was in pretty good shape considering all the rain we have had. A few muddy patches around the halfway point but nothing too bad. I saw a pair of ospreys circling above the lake which was incredible. The wildflowers are just starting to come out too mostly lupine and some early poppies. I packed a simple lunch and just sat on the summit for about an hour watching the clouds roll through the valley. The temperature was perfect maybe around 68 degrees with a light breeze. I am already planning to go back next weekend with my cousin who is visiting from out of town. She has never been up that way before so it should be fun to show her around. The parking lot was nearly empty when I arrived at 7am which was a nice surprise.
I also stopped at that farm stand on the way home and picked up some amazing peaches. Seriously the best I have had all year. The guy said they came in from a local orchard just that morning. I might go back for more next week if they still have them. The peaches were so ripe and sweet I ended up eating three of them before I even got home. I am thinking about making a cobbler for the weekend if any of them last that long.

You know I finally checked out that new coffee spot on Main Street and it was actually really good. The space used to be an old bookshop so they kept some of the built-in shelves which gives it a cozy feel. I ordered a pour-over and a cardamom bun and ended up staying for almost two hours reading. The barista recommended a single-origin from Ethiopia that had this amazing blueberry note to it. I am definitely going back. I also finally started that novel my sister gave me for my birthday and I can not put it down. It is set in coastal Ireland and the descriptions of the landscape are just gorgeous. I find myself re-reading paragraphs just to soak in the imagery. Have you read anything good lately? I am always looking for recommendations. The shop also has a small corner with local art which was a nice touch pottery and some small canvas prints.
Anyway just wanted to share since I know you are always on the lookout for good reading spots. The combination of great coffee and a quiet corner with natural light is hard to beat. I might make it a Saturday ritual if I can get a seat by the window. They also do a cold brew that is really smooth not bitter at all. Let me know if you want to meet up there sometime.
