Yeah I finally got around to watching that documentary about deep sea exploration and honestly it was way more gripping than I expected. The footage of those bioluminescent creatures at the bottom of the trench was unreal. My friend kept saying I should watch it for months and I kept putting it off because I thought it would be slow. But once they got past the first twenty minutes the pacing really picked up and I was hooked. The part where the submersible lost contact for a few minutes had me holding my breath. I think the best part though was the interview with the marine biologist who talked about how little we still understand about those ecosystems. Makes you realize how much is still out there to discover. Anyway if you haven't seen it yet I'd say give it a shot especially if you like nature stuff that doesn't feel like a classroom lecture. The cinematography alone is worth it.

I tried that new pasta recipe my cousin sent me last week and it turned out surprisingly well even though I messed up the timing on the garlic. The trick apparently is to let the tomatoes break down slowly on low heat rather than rushing it like I usually do. I added a little extra basil because I had some left over from the farmer's market and it gave the whole dish a brighter flavor. My partner said it was the best thing I've made in months which felt good because I've been in a bit of a cooking rut lately. I think the key was just being patient and not trying to speed things up. We had it with a simple side salad and some crusty bread and it felt like a proper meal. I'm already thinking about making it again this weekend maybe with a few tweaks. Definitely going to keep that recipe in rotation.
