Hey, I was just thinking about that time we took the long way through the canyon and ended up finding that little diner with the homemade pies. Honestly it was one of those afternoons where everything just clicked. The weather was perfect, the company was great, and we didn't have a single care in the world. I still remember how the light came through the trees. Anyway, I was telling my sister about it and she said we should plan another trip out there before the season changes. I think she is right. There is something about that place that feels like a reset button. Let me know if you would want to go again. I am free most weekends and I can bring the cooler and some snacks like last time. We could even try a different route this time and see what we stumble into. I have been looking at maps and there is a back road that looks promising. It might add an hour but the views are supposed to be incredible. Let me know what you think.

I finally tried that sourdough starter recipe my neighbor gave me and honestly it turned out better than I expected. The first loaf was a little flat but the second one had that nice crusty top and soft inside. I added a bit of rosemary and sea salt and it smelled incredible. My family ate half of it while it was still warm. I think the trick is letting it rise slowly overnight in a cool spot. I am going to bake another one this weekend and maybe try adding some olives this time. My neighbor said you can experiment with all kinds of add-ins once the starter is healthy and active. I also want to try making cinnamon rolls with the discard because apparently that is a thing people do. I saw a video and they looked amazing. If you have any tips let me know because I am still learning and I don't want to mess it up. It is surprisingly satisfying to watch the dough come together and transform.
