Yeah I tried that recipe you sent last week and it turned out better than expected. The key was letting the sauce simmer longer than the instructions said. I added a bit more garlic than called for and used fresh herbs instead of dried which made a noticeable difference. Next time I think I will cut back on the salt a little because it was slightly overpowering by the end. The texture came out right though so I was happy with that part. Let me know if you have tried any other variations on it. I have been meaning to experiment with adding some mushrooms to see how that changes the flavor profile. Also I found that serving it over a bed of rice helped balance out the richness. Overall a solid recommendation and I will definitely make it again with a few tweaks. I think a white wine reduction could add another layer next time.

I finally got around to repainting the bookshelf last weekend and it took way longer than I expected. The prep work was the most tedious part with all the sanding and priming. I ended up using a matte finish paint which gave it a nice subtle look that works well with the room. The color is a bit darker than I originally planned but I think it actually looks better this way. I still need to rearrange the books once everything fully cures and dries. The whole process reminded me why I usually avoid these kinds of projects because they always take twice as long as you think they will. But I am glad I did it because the piece looks refreshed and the room feels more put together now. Let me know if you want to borrow the supplies I have some leftover paint and brushes. Also the local hardware store had a great selection of similar shades if you decide to try a similar project.
