Development of a Wearable Point of Care Monitoring Device for Pediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Could Your Child’s Sleep Problems Be Sleep Apnea?
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) occurs when the airway becomes blocked, causing a person to stop breathing for 10 seconds or more during sleep. In children, OSA can be especially concerning and may lead to long-term health effects if left untreated. Researchers are studying an investigational wearable device, not approved by the FDA, that children wear during sleep to measure oxygen levels and collect important information about their health. Compensation provided.
Participation Includes:
- Children ages 3 to 12 with sleep apnea who live in the DMV area
- One study visit
- A physical exam
- Parental consent
- One overnight sleep study with EEG (parent stays in the room)
