A public meeting of the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary's Advisory Council will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. This will be a hybrid meeting, held in person with a virtual option.

The agenda includes updates from Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary staff and council member constituent reports. There will also be presentations on seasonal sanctuary highlights, the TPWD Artificial Reef Program, and education and outreach efforts of the Mesophotic and Deep Benthic Communities projects. To conclude the meeting, the public is invited to comment on the scope of the management plan review.
The public comment period for the council meeting is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. If you want to make public comments, you may sign up at the meeting venue or submit a request through the question/chat box of the online webinar. Public comments will be limited to three (3) minutes per person.
Comments submitted through this meeting will be considered part of the administrative record for Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council meetings.

Publication of a request for information in the Federal Register announces the start of the public phase of the management plan review process on April 6. The public is invited to comment on the scope of the management plan review. Two in-person meetings, open to the public, will be held to provide information on the review process and to gather oral comments.
