Flint Hill Updates

Good Afternoon Flint Hill Families,

Thank you to the many students and families that helped to make Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week a positive event for FHES. It was wonderful to see students sharing their gratitude with their current and former teachers through kind words, cards, treats and other surprises.

The class placement input form is open from today until May 22nd. Please use this opportunity to share information that will help us in the process of building new classes for the 26-27 school year. While we cannot accept requests for specific teachers or friends, your input regarding strengths, needs and other circumstances is helpful.

Next week is Kindergarten Orientation! Rising kindergarten families are invited to FHES on Wednesday, May 13th at 1:45 pm to learn more about FHES. Please share the news with your friends and neighbors. The first PTA rising-K playdate on the playground will follow the orientation.

Don't forget, the FHES PTA Fun Run will take place on Sunday, May 17th! See the information in the message below about how to join the fun run and register for the event.

Kindly,

Mr. Montaquila, Principal

Mr. Baker, Assistant Principal

Class Placement Input Opportunity (Due by May 22nd)

summer school

To help us prepare for the upcoming school year, we are seeking parent/family input to build class lists for the 26-27 school year. Please take a moment to complete the optional input form below.

Sharing input about your students' areas of strength, need and interest will help our staff build balanced, effective classes that meet student needs. Also, sharing other circumstances that may be unique to your student can also be considered.

Please do not share requests for specific teachers and placement with specific students. In building class lists for over 600 students, it is not possible to meet all requests. Feedback that includes requests for specific teachers will not be included in our review.

1.) Please describe your child's strengths and areas of need.

2.) Are there any extenuating circumstances or factors that may influence our decision regarding placement for the 2026-2027 school year?

Please provide all input through the link below (Deadline: May 22nd). Emailed comments will not be considered.

Our kindergarten open house is being held on Wednesday, May 13th at 1:45 pm to give parents of students entering school in August an opportunity to learn more about kindergarten at our school.

We recognize that parents are their children’s first teachers. Resources on the School Readiness and Transition to Kindergarten webpage provide parents with ways to support their children to help ensure a smooth transition to kindergarten.

There’s also an easy-to-follow five-step process outlined for registering your child for kindergarten. Register your child today! Contact our registrar, Mrs. Eason, at SAEason@fcps.edu or 703-242-6100 with any questions.

Expanding Learning Opportunities for All Students

Laptop

At Flint Hill, we're committed to providing every student with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive both during the school year and over the summer.

This summer, all students will be allowed to check out a technology device that will support continued growth.  This will ensure continued access to tools such as ST Math and Benchmark Universe that allow students to work at their own pace and level. Programs like these adapt to each child's needs, providing extra support in areas where they're building skills and advancing them when they're ready for more challenges. This opportunity will allow students to continue their personalized learning at home, to develop digital literacies and important routines around managing their technology.

More information coming soon.

Field Day: Donations Needed!

We are also collecting donations of freeze pops for Field Day. We are specifically looking for the “freeze-and-eat” variety, which will be frozen ahead of the event. To help keep all students safe, please ensure that donations are allergy-conscious and, if possible, produced in a nut-free facility (for example, the Fla-Vor-Ice brand).
