Arlington Ridge Road Bridge to Close Over Four Mile Run for Eight Days

From Saturday, May 16 to Saturday, May 23, the Arlington Ridge Road/Mount Vernon Avenue Bridge will close during off-peak hours to allow crews to install and secure steel beams as part of the reconstruction of the west side of the bridge.

The bridge will be closed between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays, and 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Outside of these hours, all traffic will continue to use the east side of the bridge.

Bus stops on Mount Vernon Avenue between West Reed Avenue and South Glebe Road will close. Metrobus routes A11 and A12 will detour via West Glebe Road.

About the Project

Arlington County is reconstructing the Arlington Ridge Road/Mount Vernon Avenue Bridge between Arlington and the City of Alexandria. Currently, crews are working on the west side of the bridge before proceeding to the east side of the bridge. The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2027.
