Watkins Mind Body Spirit magazine. Red Wheel president and CEO Michael Kerber said purchase makes the publisher stronger “as we face the challenges of these times.”

PinnThis intriguing if dense biblical analysis from Pinn, a professor of humanities at Rice University, explores scripture through the eyes of marginal characters often sidelined in theological interpretations. Pinn pushes against familiar biblical narratives with rich and rigorous analysis, though his argument can sometimes get bogged down in jargon. Still, scholars of the Bible will find value here.

‘Pope Leo XIV: The Biography’ by Elise Ann Allen, trans. from the Spanish by Stephen R. Di TrolioAllen, a senior correspondent at
Crux, draws from a wealth of interviews with Pope Leo XIV and his family members, friends, and colleagues for this laudatory biography. While Allen’s detailed portrait of Leo is rosy and mostly uncritical, she does briefly address concerns about his handling of a sexual abuse case. This effusive portrait doesn’t break much new ground, but there’s enough here to please Leo’s admirers.
