Crews Preparing for Fort Myer Drive Sidewalk Improvements

Crews have started preparation for the Fort Myer Sidewalk Improvements project on Fort Myer Drive at Gateway Park, and at two adjacent intersections. This work will make pedestrian and bike travel through the area safer. Construction will start in spring of 2026 and will be completed in spring of 2027, as weather allows.

What to Expect During Construction

During construction, sidewalks and lanes will temporarily close and detour as needed to keep crews and travelers safe. Please follow all signs and proceed through the area with care. Traffic pattern updates will be shared in the Rosslyn Transportation Update newsletter.

Project Goals

The project has three main goals:

• Widen the sidewalk on the west side of Fort Myer Drive between the westbound and eastbound lanes of Langston Boulevard (under the Gateway Park bridge), and improve the north curb at Langston Boulevard westbound
• Upgrade the corner curbs and replace the traffic signals at eastbound Langston Boulevard & Fort Myer Drive
• Upgrade the signal at the intersection of eastbound Langston Boulevard & Fort Myer Drive

Sanitary Sewer Relining Project in Rosslyn

Arlington County is working to rehabilitate approximately 2,300 linear feet of 33-inch to 36-inch sanitary sewer lines in the Rosslyn area using a trenchless rehabilitation method known as cured-in-place pipe (CIPP), which extends the life of sewer lines without the need for excavation.   The project is anticipated to be completed by late September 2026.
