Public consultation: new GB PPP active substance

There is a call for comments on the first GB approval of a new active substance.

HSE has received a dossier from Sumitomo Chemical Agro Europe S.A.S for the following active substance/uses:

Substance: inpyrfluxam (S-2399) – Fungicide active substance for use in plant protection products for controlling foliar diseases in winter and spring wheat, winter and spring barley, and durum wheat.

This is the first application for approval of this substance in GB under the assimilated Regulation No 1107/2009. The assessment was performed by HSE's Chemicals Regulation Division.

Stakeholders should note that pesticides is in scope of the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) agreement currently being negotiated between the UK and the EU. Once negotiations on the SPS Agreement have concluded, HSE will communicate further on any implications the agreement has for the sector.

Is AI being used safely in your industry?

HSE is exploring whether there is a need for AI training focused on safety, major hazards and regulatory contexts.

AI is increasingly being used across high-risk industries. While it brings potential benefits, it also introduces new risks to safety management systems.

We're seeking input from leaders, practitioners and specialists on where knowledge gaps exist and what effective training should cover.

To have your input, complete the surveyAI Training Product.

The survey closes on 15 May 2026.
