New Continuum of Care Membership Form Online

There is a new Continuum of Care membership form accessible online through the Fairfax County Continuum of Care Webpage. Please share this information with others. If you or your colleagues have not yet registered as a member of the Fairfax County Continuum of Care, just go to Continuum of Care Webpage, scroll down to “Continuum of Care Membership”, and click on the "Fairfax County Continuum of Care Membership Form". Then take just a few minutes to fill out the form. We appreciate your registering as a member of the Fairfax County Continuum of Care!

Board of Supervisors Expands Where Congregate Living Facilities May Be Located

The Board of Supervisors has adopted a zoning amendment that broadens where congregate living facilities can be located and clarifies the types of populations they may serve. Under the updated rules, these facilities may now be considered in additional commercial and industrial zoning districts through the special exception process, with new standards ensuring they are situated near transit, services, and employment centers. The amendment also strengthens the review process by requiring applicants to provide more detailed information about facility operations, services, and staffing. These facilities can offer short‑term or long‑term housing, along with on‑site services to a range of individuals, including people experiencing homelessness.

Board Expands Where Congregate Living Facilities May Be Located

End Of Hypothermia Season

March 31, 2026, marked the end of the Hypothermia Prevention Program in Fairfax County. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to providing hypothermia prevention services throughout the season. 

Continuum of Care Board Meeting The Continuum of Care Board (CoC) was developed to provide leadership in preventing and ending homelessness in the Fairfax-Falls Church community. The CoC Board acts on behalf of the "Continuum of Care", which is a partnership of representatives from organizations in the Fairfax-Falls Church community with an interest and role in serving people experiencing, or at-risk of, homelessness. The next Fairfax County Continuum of Care Board meeting will be held , at the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority located at 3700 Pender Drive, Fairfax, VA in Room 1 starting at 7:00pm.

The Office to Prevent and End Homelessness (OPEH) is excited to announce that all available trainings are now on the Learning Management System (LMS). The OPEH training portal will still be available to see what is being offered, look up materials, presentations, and recordings from previous trainings, and the HOME page has instructions on how to activate your new LMS account and register for trainings in the LMS. Upcoming trainings that are currently being offered by OPEH: MANDT 3.0, Permanent Supportive Housing-Processing Residential Files, Case/Returning Home: Supporting Youth and Families After Detention, Case/Strategic Case Management for High-Need Populations, Working with Veterans, Trauma Informed Care and De-escalation Techniques, Harm Reduction and Low Barrier Homeless Services, From Services to Community, Holding Complexity: Trauma-Response Practice in Real Settings, Autonomy and Dignity in Homeless Response, Preventing Burnout, Motivational Interviewing for Housing Stability, and Housing Problem Solving. 

If you have used a personal email address to previously register for trainings, you need to request an LMS account and use your work email address.  Use the link below to access the form to request a Leaning Management System account. Make sure to indicate the reason you are requesting access is to register and attend Trainings.
