Hi ala,
Every morning I listen to one of the two big Boston NPR stations. I have a shower radio, an app on my phone and a device in the kitchen. I switch back and forth on who I listen to.
This week is Pledge Week, the fundraising drive where the radio folks remind us that they need our support so they can keep doing their Very Important Jobs.
So today at Innovation Women, we're merging the last week of Women's History Month and Pledge Week. Here at Innovation Women, we're looking for your support, your pledges, so we can keep doing our Very Important Job - helping the world be a better place for everyone.
Women, and other underrepresented voices, we're looking for your commitment to speaking up and speaking out. We want you to say yes to public speaking. Every time you get onstage, it's good for you, your career, your business, and it is good for everyone else too.
You bring a different perspective to the conversation. Speaking helps women get seen as thought leaders and experts, and your presence is a signal to the next generation that we belong onstage, at the front of the room, in the board room and the C-suite. We deserve consideration for funding, business growth opportunities and more.
Event organizers, we're looking for your pledge too. No more MANels. No more all pale speaker line ups. Your audiences deserve the best, most interesting discussions. A speaking slate with different perspectives and lived experiences delivers on that. We look to you to have the tough talks with your sponsors and to plan ahead for onstage diversity.
We also look to you because women get paid less and are less likely to work for companies that can support their speaking travel expenses. Help us get compensated for the time we spend preparing and the value we deliver to your events.
With your support, everyone wins.
Bobbie and the entire Innovation Women team
