First Alert: Mix of rain, snow and ice makes for a messy commute

After a wet end to the weekend, it continues for Monday. With rain overnight transitioning to a brief burst of wet snow at times today, a wet and potentially slick morning commute and evening commute is possible. Especially near and north of the Mass. Pike, where a quick coating to a couple inches of snow accumulation is possible this morning.

A break in precipitation is likely for much of the afternoon. Snow in spots and a few snow squalls possible for the evening, with that chance through early Tuesday especially across central and eastern Massachusetts.

Any squalls bring a quick hit of reduced visibility and a light coating of snow in spots. Likely accumulating grassy surfaces, but if a heavier band sets up, roads especially along higher terrain could briefly get slushy. The good news is anything that does fall melts pretty quickly.
