Nature for Climate Fund boosts tree planting and peatland restoration - but momentum is slipping

Our new report looks at Defra's Nature for Climate Fund and how effective it's been to boost tree planting and peatland restoration in England, a key element in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Overall, 15,268 hectares of tree planting (53% of the target) was directly funded in the five years of the programme and 23,526 hectares of restored peatland (67% of the target).

But there's uncertainty about future funding and momentum is currently being lost.
