This year’s film program features four short documentaries premiering at SXSW 2026: Eructation, Stalin Boys, A Wolf in the Suburbs, and Air Horse One. Together, the films reflect the evolving edge of documentary cinema, moving fluidly between humor, observation, and deeply personal perspective while highlighting emerging filmmakers pushing the
form forward.
Music remains central to the Thin Line experience, with Atlanta noise-rock outfit Whores. bringing their crushing, high-volume intensity to Denton. Known for confrontational energy and razor-sharp songwriting, the band’s live performances channel catharsis as much as sound.
The festival’s photography program is led by celebrated Texas artist Byrd Williams IV, whose decades-long exploration of landscape and memory has made him one of the state’s most influential photographic voices. His work anchors exhibitions that invite audiences to consider how documentary images shape collective memory.
Thin Line Fest uniquely bridges documentary storytelling across disciplines, creating a festival where film, music, and photography co-exist
in conversation.
