We’re just a few weeks away from the EU Tax Symposium 2026, taking place on 16 and 17 March in Brussels.

Register: Stakeholder workshop on simplifying excise procedures, 23 March  

The European Commission invites industry stakeholders to an online workshop to discuss excise procedures on 23 March, from 10:00 to 12:30. The goal is to collect feedback on the current rules and explore ways to simplify excise procedures.

EU Customs Authority: Council and Parliament agree procedure to select a host city

On 25 February, the Council formally approved the procedure agreed with the European Parliament to select a host city for the new EU Customs Authority (EUCA). The EUCA will centralise data and analytics, enabling smarter handling of customs procedures, controls, more consistent and simpler procedures for businesses, modernising the Customs Union for the future. The EUCA is more than a new agency. It embodies a truly European approach to customs, essential for Europe’s economic and internal security, competitiveness, autonomy and unity.

2026 Recognition Cycle: What applicants can expect next

The deadline to apply for the 2026 EU Customs Certificate of Recognition has now passed (31 December 2025). Universities that submitted their applications on time are now entering the next stages of the Recognition cycle.

CBAM call for tender to establish the Common Central Platform (CCP)

The European Commission has launched a call for tenders for services to establish and manage the CCP for the sale and repurchase of CBAM certificates. The call will be open until 20 March 2026.
