Learn how to transform your scraps, yard debris and other organic materials into nutrient-rich soil for your garden at Green Spring Gardens Park in Alexandria. We’ll discuss the basic principles behind the science of composting, why compost benefits the soil and different compost bins and tools. Registration is $19.
Fig Talk (2 - 3:30 p.m.)
Learn about this small, unusual fruit at the City of Fairfax Regional Library. A comprehensive talk will cover history, botany, biology and information specific to the cultivars of our region.
Game Night and Mahjong (3 - 5:30 p.m.)
Learn how to play Mahjong with your friends and family at Kingstowne Library. We'll also have other board games for you to play. All ages are welcome.
Indigenous Drum Circle (4 - 5 p.m.)
Join an indigenous drum circle at Great Falls Library. The drum, often seen as the heartbeat of the Earth, reaches ancestors and their stories, often used in ceremonies, celebrations and healing rituals.
Console Gaming (4:30 - 5:30 p.m.)
Calling all gamers! Come to the George Mason Regional Library in Annandale and play a variety of video games with other teens.
Twilight Boardwalk Stroll (7:15 - 9:15 p.m.)
Take a guided walk along forested paths and experience Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria as it transitions from day into night. Watch and listen for nocturnal residents such as beavers and owls. Registration is $10.
