Trump today announced he will attempt to extend the National Guard stay in Washington, D.C., beyond the 30 day limit, he is talking about how he can declare a national emegency if he wants. He talked about hosting the Kennedy Center Honors, he talked about Putin meeting. All diversions. It’s about Epstein. According to the New Republic and CNN, interviews conducted before Epstein’s death suggest that Trump and the convicted pedophile were close long after Trump claimed to have thrown Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago for being a “creep.” A new timeline compiled by CNN reveals just how long the two men knew each other. NPR also released the timeline, which is here. Trump had tried to subdue all the Epstein talk by releasing the transcripts of the grand jury testimony of Ghislaine Maxwell, but Judge Paul Engelmayer of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York refused their release. They would not have been informative, even the judge said that, but Trump thinks it will appease MAGA who want to know the truth in the files. If pressure is continued to be put on Trump about his association with Maxwell, and to release the files, he will have no choice. I don’t think. Trump is apparently mentioned in the files, but is not accused of any wrong doing. . Heather Cox Richardson reports, “Its entire premise—that the Maxwell grand jury materials would bring to light meaningful new information about Epstein’s and Maxwell’s crimes, or the Government’s investigation into them—is demonstrably false,” he wrote, and pointed out that the material is already almost all public. He continued, “A member of the public, appreciating that the Maxwell grand jury materials do not contribute anything to public knowledge, might conclude that the Government’s motion for their unsealing was aimed not at ‘transparency’ but at diversion—aimed not at full disclosure but at the illusion of such.” Congressional Democrats, led by Representative Jamie Raskin, are demanding the release of the Justice Department interviews with convicted sex offender/trafficker and Epstein conspirator Ghisliane Maxwell, which led to her being moved to a minimum security prison, something not done for sex traffickers. They also issued a subpoena for her to testify to Congress. What happens next? How can the public compel, FORCE Trump to release the Epstein Files? The survivors need justice. Maybe Trump was not involved, we do not have evidence that he was. Then why not release the files? Tomorrow, I will be interviewing E Jean Carroll at 1pm EST here, live. I just finished her new book, “Not My Type,” and it’s tremedous. What a brave woman, and all victims of sexual assault can thank E Jean for bringing Trump to trial and winning. It’s a huge step forward. I’ve shown you this drawing before, but it bears showing again. As long as the Epstein files remain sealed, we will continue to be a culture that does not value a woman’s right to safety and bodily autonomy. Carroll has helped move us towards a better place, as have other women who have come forward, particularly since the ME TOO movement. Brave women. Join me and E Jean tomorrow at 1pm EST. Thanks for being here, see you tomorrow! Hope you have a good Wednesday. Thanks again to all who donated to the kickstarter for my documentary, WOMEN LAUGHING! Humor helps us push boundaries, I believe it. With your help, we reached our goal, but have three more days left and would love to raise a bit more to help defer costs for publicity and travel for cartoonists to attend the premiere. Thanks for any and all support, we really appreciate it! Here is the link to join us.
