Welcome Back to TV, Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys |
According to Claire Danes, the success of her new Netflix thriller—The Beast in Me—rests entirely on the dynamic between her character and that of her co-lead, Matthew Rhys. It’s a good thing, then, that the two of them are both very well suited for a scintillating game of cat and mouse. As they tell David Canfield, the show didn’t gel until Rhys was cast in the role of diabolical tycoon Nile Jarvis, who may or may not have killed his wife. (Danes plays the grieving author inadvertently drawn into his web.) “It was just effortless, playing with Matthew,” says Danes. “You can serve anything, and he’ll serve it right back in a direction that you can’t quite anticipate.”
Elsewhere in HWD, the team previews this fall’s most highly anticipated movies and TV shows; Patti Smith reveals the cover of her new memoir; and Taylor Swift announces she’s living The Life of a Showgirl. |
