What a week of highs — emotional (go, Zohran), physical (105 degrees), material (inflation). To mirror this week’s volatility, I took to Craigslist, my favorite generator of gems and junk alike. As expected, the journey was manic — from Bed-Stuy, to Prospect Heights, to Red Hook, to Fidi, to Williamsburg, to Chinatown, I zigged and zagged all over town, never staying in one place for too long. At the end of it all, I spent some virtual time upstate, where a lot of people I know are selling, and subletting, and what better time to escape the city? Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights

$2,800, 1-bedroom: The apartment that comes with a dude is back on the market!

$3,200, 1-bedroom: Honestly, perfect layout and great bones. The hardwoods are great, and the windows frame the spires of not one, but two churches. Apparently the bath is newly renovated, too.

$2,270, 1-bedroom: They’re calling this one an extra-large studio, which it is! All the original moldings and woodwork — you have to be big into mahogany to be into this one. The kitchen is an abrupt departure from the rest of the aesthetic world, but what else is new?

$3,799, 1-bedroom: Seems … expensive … for what it is, but the location is good and there’s a backyard.

Prospect Heights

$2,400, 1-bedroom: I like the hodgepodge flooring situation — zigzagging hardwoods and parquets. The windows are what sell me here, though.

FiDi

$3,450, 2-bedroom: Have come across this one before, and I question its veracity. But a lot about it speaks to me — it’s high up, and so the lighting feels ethereal, the oak flooring is nice, and there’s a sunken living room and an outdoor terrace. And a gym in the building.

Red Hook

$3,300, 1-bedroom: Fun, idiosyncratic loft that’s surely artist owned. I’m intrigued by the patchwork tapestry, and the lapis-blue lacquered staircase. Short-term renters only!

Williamsburg

$3,200, 2-bedroom: Literally just leaving this here to give you a laugh and a full-body chill.

Fort Greene

$5,900, 4-bedroom: A nice ground-floor apartment with a somewhat spooky basement situation. Gorgeous building and appointment, a few short blocks from the park. And before I forget: wood-burning fireplace!

East Village and Chinatown

$3,400, 1-bedroom: Nice, affordable if not small, one-bedroom — but it’s the East Village, so that shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone. Original windows, decent ceramic tiling in the bathroom, and that’s all I got for this one.

$5,750,  2-bedroom: This one puts the FUN in funky — a lot of exposed brick, so be warned if you’re wary. The tub is listed as marble, but this is definitely giving DIY treatment.

$7,995, 2-bedroom: A pretty sweet, pretty raw loft space. I’ve listed it before and wonder if it’s real. Definitely looks like a converted commercial space, with a no-b.s. skylight on the upper level.

Sunnyside

$2,000, 1-bedroom: Cheap with that nice light.
