Student Representative Seeks Students for Advisory Committees

Incoming Student Representative to the School Board Faith Mekonen is now accepting applications for student members on School Board Community Advisory Committees (CAC) for SY 2025-2026.

Each student member must be an FCPS High School student (rising 12th, 11th, 10th, or 9th grade student), serves a one-year term from August 1, 2025 - July 31, 2026, engages with their respective committee, and shares feedback with the Student Representative to the School Board. There are two student positions appointed to each committee.

School Board Seeks Applicants for Facilities Planning Advisory Council

The Facilities Planning Advisory Council (FPAC) advises and informs FCPS staff and the School Board in the development of comprehensive, long-term plans for facilities.

The Fairfax County School Board invites applications from community members interested in serving on FPAC in the following capacities:

  • At-Large (McDaniel) representative
  • Braddock District representative
  • Franconia District representative
  • Mount Vernon District representative

These council member appointments will begin August 1, 2025 and end July 31, 2028.

FCPS encourages individuals with experience in construction, engineering, architecture, land use planning, development, demographics, government operations, and financing to apply. The priority deadline to submit an application is July 14, 2025.

Applicants must reside in the Braddock magisterial district if seeking the Braddock representative seat, Franconia magisterial district if seeking the Franconia representative seat, or in the Mount Vernon magisterial district if seeking the Mount Vernon representative seat.

Any Fairfax County or Fairfax City resident may seek the At-Large representative seat. More information about FPAC and an application is available online.
