Dear Clearview Families,  

It is hard to believe that it is already May!  Where did the time go?  

As always, teachers are planning engaging and enriching activities to support your child's growth and they will have so many opportunities to showcase everything they have learned.

This time of year is full of excitement, nostalgia, and even some worries. Thank you, as always, for encouraging your children to share their feelings as they navigate the end of the school year. Your listening and reassurance continues to be a comfort to them each and every day.

Thank you, also, for continuing to support bedtime and morning routines. The consistency that you provide helps children in immeasurable ways.

True Book Fair Returns in May

Great news: Clearview Library will hold its SECOND True Book Fair in May!

The True Book Fair will provide students in grades Preschool - 6 with at least one book of their very own for summer reading. Our wish is to provide everyone with two books.

We have been lucky enough to win one grant from Educate Fairfax to support this goal; however, we still need your support to make this happen! Check out our Amazon Wish List to support our wonderful readers.

SOL Testing Scheduling

(Students in Grades 3-6)

You can find Clearview’s SOL Testing Schedule here. A good night’s rest the night before an SOL test makes a big difference. Thank you for avoiding, to the extent possible, scheduling appointments on the days/times that your child is scheduled to take an SOL test.

Excellence at a Crossroads: FCPS Budget Update

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will begin finalizing the budget on Tuesday, May 6. The current advertised budget underfunds FCPS by $150 million.

Without new revenue, such as the meals tax (adding just $2-3 to an average dining bill for a family of four), FCPS will face significant cuts.

Regular, on-time attendance is a key ingredient to your child’s success.  Keeping in mind that students are to stay home if they have a fever (of 100.4 or above), vomiting, or diarrhea, attending school must be a top priority.  

Children who show up for school regularly develop fundamental reading and math skills while building a habit of good attendance that will carry them into college and careers.

☀️ Discover Exciting Summer Learning Activities and Ideas

Attend the FCPS Summer Extravaganza on Saturday, May 10, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at Woodson High School and get a jump on summer learning and fun! At this free event, participants can engage in educational and enrichment activities designed to inspire curiosity and growth. 

An FCPS Student Program Marketplace will feature student-made goods for sale. Proceeds will support the students’ programs.
