countdown

Message from Mrs. Briggs

Dear Panther Families,

It's hard to believe that we've already entered the month of May! The final weeks of the school year are quickly approaching, and with them comes a busy period for our students and teachers.

Our dedicated teachers are currently working diligently to assess student growth and understanding through end-of-year testing. If your child is in grades 3-6, they will be taking the Standards of Learning Assessments. Please see information below regarding the assessments and how best to support your student.

We are also looking forward to celebrating the end of the year with our ABC countdown activities for our students! See calendar above.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education.

Sincerely,

Amy Briggs

Class Placements for 2025-2026

Our staff will be working on tentative class groupings this spring, with classroom assignments finalized in mid-August.  As we make these placements, we consider many factors including individual student information, teacher input, and social relationships. Every class will have a blend of children with diverse needs, personalities, and learning interests. Due to the many factors we must consider in creating classroom placements, including the staffing of our teachers, requests for a specific teacher will not be honored.

If you have information that you believe is pertinent to your child’s placement for next year, please complete this link  by Friday, May 16 for it to be taken into consideration. There is no need to complete the form if you do not have any information you would like us to consider.

If your child will NOT be attending Spring Hill ES or his/her base middle school next year, please email Ms. Kim at ykim1@fcps.edu.

Unfortunately, due to timelines, we are unable to accept survey input after May 16th.  Thank you!

Upcoming Testing Information (Grades 3-6)

As the end of the school year approaches, we want to provide you with important information regarding the upcoming Standards of Learning (SOL) testing for students in grades 3 through 6.

Here is the SOL testing schedule:

  • Reading SOL (Grades 3-6): Wednesday, May 7th
  • Math SOL (Grades 3-6): Wednesday, May 14th
  • 5th Grade Science SOL: Thursday, May 22nd

To help ensure a positive and successful testing experience for our students, we kindly ask for your support in the following ways:

  • Good Breakfast: Please ensure your child has a nutritious breakfast on testing days. There will be no snack provided during the testing sessions.
  • Choice Book: Students are encouraged to bring a choice book to read quietly once they have finished their test. These books will remain with them in the testing location until all testing for the session is complete.
  • Lunch Schedule Adjustments: Please be aware of temporary adjustments to the lunch schedule on the Reading and Math SOL testing days (May 7th and May 14th):
    • 1st Grade Lunch: Moved to 10:45 AM
    • 3rd Grade Lunch: Moved to 11:45 AM
  • Good Night's Sleep: Ensuring your child gets a good night's sleep before each testing day is crucial for their focus and performance.
  • Water Bottle: Students are permitted to bring a water bottle to have with them during testing.
  • Headphones and Mice (If Necessary): If your child uses headphones or a mouse regularly for schoolwork or testing accommodations, please ensure they bring them to school fully functional on their respective testing days.
  • Charged Computers: Please ensure their computers are fully charged.

We appreciate your partnership in supporting your child's success during SOL testing. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions.
