A Message from the Admin Team
Dear Roadrunner Families,
With the arrival of May and the welcome warmth in the air, Little Run has been buzzing with positive energy. This week has been a testament to the vibrant spirit of our school community, as we've come together for a variety of enriching and enjoyable events. We're excited to share some of the highlights from this fantastic week with you.
We were delighted to host The World At Little Run last weekend. This special event showcased the incredible diversity of our school community, featuring engaging cultural displays, delicious food samples and cooking demonstrations, a fascinating knot-tying demonstration, and a vibrant fashion show and performances. Thank you to all of our families who shared their culture with us!
We also enjoyed a wonderful Band and Strings concert. Congratulations to all of our fantastic performers for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. We are so proud of your accomplishments! Thank you to our talented band and strings teachers for their guidance and support this year.
Our second-grade students had a fun and educational day on their field trip to Riverbend Park.
And finally, we want to give a big shoutout to our third and fifth-grade students for completing their Reading SOL tests this week! We are looking forward to continued success as other grades take their SOL tests next week.
Looking ahead to next week, we are thrilled to celebrate our amazing staff during Staff Appreciation Week! Their dedication and hard work make Little Run such a special place for our children. Please check out the PTA section below to see how you can show your support and sign up to participate.

Educate Fairfax Grant
A huge thank you to Educate Fairfax for helping us bring Mother Earth and Me, an interactive theater presentation, to Little Run. We were fortunate enough to be one of the 107 Educate Fairfax Grants this year, and as a result, our primary and preschool students enjoyed a fabulous in-school field trip. They learned all about the water cycle, our ecosystem, and how to reduce, reuse and recycle. This was a great way to help celebrate Earth Day!
Parent Input Form for 2025-26 Class Placement
With the end of the year quickly approaching, we are already looking ahead to next year. While we look at class placements for the coming year, we ask for your input and if there is pertinent information to support your child’s success. We cannot honor requests for specific teachers. Parent input forms are due by May 9, 2025. We value your feedback and insight into your child’s learning needs. Thank you for your input.

Spring Attendance Challenge
Our school-wide Attendance Challenge is still underway! Each day, we're tracking grade-level attendance, and the grade with the highest percentage each week gets celebrated. Thanks for helping your child be present and ready to learn!
Here's how our grades performed this week:
Kindergarten - 91%
1st Grade - 94%
2nd Grade - 94.5%
3rd Grade - 97%
4th Grade - 99.5%
5th Grade - 98%
6th Grade - 99%
A special congratulations to our 4th graders for achieving the highest attendance rate this week! Honorable Mention to fifth and sixth graders were almost perfect attendance as well! Let's keep up the great work, everyone!

Social and Emotional Learning Screener: Parent Reports
Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of March. The screener provides information on their SEL skills such as achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how much their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.
Individual student SEL Screener results are available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. Families who do not have an active ParentVUE account will receive their results via postal mail.
For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the SEL Screener Results Family Guide or reach out to our school staff with any questions.

Join the FCPS Summer Extravaganza on Saturday, May 10, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at Woodson High School! During this free event, participants can engage in educational and enrichment activities designed to inspire curiosity and growth.
