April 2025 Newsletter

We hope this newsletter finds you and your family well and enjoying the spring weather. It’s hard to believe we’re already in the final quarter of the school year. The last day for seniors is Thursday, May 22nd, and for underclass students, it's Wednesday, June 11. Please encourage your student to attend regularly and finish the year strong.  Please join us for graduation on Thursday, May 29th at 5 o'clock and celebrate our outstanding graduates.

The Friday before Spring Break was a busy and exciting day at Bryant, featuring an Academic Awards Assembly, a Wellness Day, and a Job and Career Fair. While the weather wasn’t quite what we had hoped for, it certainly didn’t dampen the spirit of the day.

During Wellness Day, students participated in a wide range of activities—from diamond art and basketball to karaoke and pancake-making. The best part was seeing the students simply enjoy being kids for the day, focused on their emotional and physical well-being. It's a powerful reminder of the importance of maintaining balance in our lives.

Wellness Day

Wellness Day

After a morning filled with Wellness Day activities, students quickly shifted gears for the afternoon’s Job and Career Fair—an opportunity for high schoolers to explore future possibilities and start thinking about life beyond graduation. More than 30 representatives from community agencies, organizations, and local employers were on hand to share insights about their professions, the paths they followed, and the skills needed to succeed. Students also attended a panel featuring Bryant educators who spoke candidly about their journeys—not only their achievements but the challenges they overcame. Our guest speakers repeatedly shared how engaged  our students were, and how welcoming the Bryant school community felt.

Earth Week

Bryant also celebrated Earth Week and the Get2Green committee developed a fun literacy activity in honor of Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22. On Friday, students planted mini herb pots as part of an Earth Day activity, helping them understand the importance of caring for our environment. They are now waiting for their herbs to sprout in the coming weeks, reinforcing the value of sustainability.

Earth Day

Behind the scenes at Bryant, there are some truly amazing individuals whose dedication keeps our school running smoothly each day. This month, we proudly celebrated National School Social Work Week, Administrative Professionals Week, and National Library Week—three important occasions that highlight the often-unseen contributions of our support staff.

Our school social workers provide essential emotional and academic support to students, helping them navigate challenges and thrive. Our administrative team keeps everything organized and running efficiently, always with professionalism and a smile. And our librarians foster a love of learning and literacy while creating a welcoming space for all.

Bryant simply couldn’t function without the care, talent, and tireless work of these incredible team members. We are so grateful for all they do to support both students and staff, and for the heart they bring to our school community.

OTG

This school year, Bryant has gained a valuable resource and an incredible educator. Mr. Fischer serves as our On-Time Graduation Coordinator and also teaches Spanish for Heritage Speakers. He treated his class to a delicious Venezuelan lunch featuring arepas, creating a memorable cultural experience and helping to build a strong sense of community.

Planter

Bryant seniors have been participating in a welding project at WISH (Workforce Innovative Skills Hub), where they’ve been developing hands-on skills and exploring career pathways. After weeks of hard work, the students successfully completed their project, a planter—now proudly displayed in the main hallway at Bryant as a testament to their efforts and persistence.

Our JVG Specialist, CaSandra Davis Perrilliat, has been actively supporting our seniors by preparing them for the workforce and equipping them with essential life skills.

988

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at Bryant, we remain committed to supporting our students and recognizing signs of mental health concerns. Remember, the Crisis Lifeline is just a call or text away at 988. We understand that SOL testing can bring added stress, so we encourage students to prioritize good sleep and healthy eating. Please reach out to your student's school counselor to address any concerns you might have.  We are here to work together to support your child.

Cosmetology

And to end this month on a high note, we must celebrate two outstanding and hardworking Cosmetology students, Delyn Segovia Chicas and Lakshmi Carcamo-Escobar, who recently passed their state practical boards. Their amazing teacher, Teresa Rogers, honored their achievement by treating them to a special celebratory luncheon.

Congratulations to Delyn and Lakshmi on this incredible accomplishment—your dedication and perseverance have truly paid off!
