2025 Product Calendar — The U.S. Census Bureau has posted anticipated release dates for each regular and recurring statistical product scheduled for release in 2025. These products are listed in the Census Bureau’s online product calendar, which is updated as needed throughout the year.
Census Bureau Releases Community Resilience Estimates for Puerto Rico — The U.S. Census Bureau is scheduled to release the Community Resilience Estimates (CRE) for Puerto Rico, which include population estimates by level of social vulnerability to disasters for the commonwealth, municipios and census tracts. The updated interactive tool provides users with an easy-to-use way to quickly lookup and map neighborhoods with “low,” “medium” and “high” social vulnerability. (Scheduled for release May 22.)
American Community Survey
Census Bureau to Release Report Examining Geographic Mobility in the United States by Birth Cohorts or Generations — The U.S. Census Bureau is set to release a report based on 2005-2023 American Community Survey 1-year estimates showing geographic mobility – the movement of people within and across geographic boundaries – by birth cohort. Birth cohorts are groups of people born during a specific time frame who pass through life together. (Scheduled for release May 6.)

Employment and Labor Force Characteristics for Married Householders and their Spouses — The U.S. Census Bureau will release a table package – Employment and Labor Force Characteristics for Same-Sex and Opposite-Sex Married Householders and their Spouses – based on the 2023 American Community Survey (ACS). The tables contain estimates of selected employment and labor force characteristics of householders and their spouses ages 16 to 64 in civilian same- and opposite-sex married households. Estimates are available for the nation, states and the District of Columbia, and for 15 selected metropolitan areas. At the national level, estimates are available by sex, race and Hispanic origin. (Scheduled for release May 5.)
Vintage 2024 Population Estimates for Incorporated Places and Minor Civil Divisions and Housing Unit Estimates for the Nation, States and Counties — The U.S. Census Bureau is scheduled to release internet tables and detailed downloadable files showing annual population estimates for all local functioning governmental units, including incorporated places (such as cities and towns), minor civil divisions (such as townships) and consolidated cities. They will also include housing unit estimates for the nation, states and counties. All data will be available as of July 1, 2024. (Scheduled for embargo May 13; public release May 15.)
Household Trends and Outlook Pulse Survey — The U.S. Census Bureau has expanded data collection for the experimental Household Trends and Outlook Pulse Survey (HTOPS) to almost 30,000 households. This expanded sample size will allow for data to be released at a subnational level. Launched in January, HTOPS is a successor to the Household Pulse Survey (HPS). HTOPS will continue the strong tradition of the HPS by providing rapid insights into national events that have socioeconomic impacts on U.S. households.

New Nonemployer Statistics by Demographics Data — The U.S. Census Bureau will release the 2022 Nonemployer Statistics by Demographics (NES-D). Also within this release are demographic data by urban and rural classification, receipt size of firm, legal form of organization and characteristics of nonemployer business owners. The NES-D is an annual statistical series that uses existing administrative records and census data to link demographic characteristics to the universe of nonemployer businesses. (Scheduled for release May 8.)
Commodity Flow Survey Provides Data on the Nationwide Shipment of Goods — The U.S. Census Bureau is scheduled to release data from the 2022 Commodity Flow Survey. The survey, a partnership with the U.S. Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Statistics, is the primary source of national, state and selected metropolitan area statistics on domestic freight shipments. It provides information on the origin and destination, value, weight, mode of transportation, distance and ton-miles of commodities shipped. Data are available for the nation, 50 states and the District of Columbia, and selected metropolitan areas. (Scheduled for release May 20.)
2022 Economic Census – Product Statistics Update — The U.S. Census Bureau will release statistics about products and services from the 2022 Economic Census. The release will include two tables, one presenting data on products by industry and the other data on industries by product. Data provided will include the number of establishments and the sales, value of shipments or revenue by product codes. Products are categorized based on the North American Product Classification System (NAPCS), while industry data are categorized by the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). (Scheduled for release May 29.)
2023 Nonemployer Statistics — The Census Bureau is set to release the 2023 Nonemployer Statistics (NES). The NES is a data product released annually that provides subnational economic data for businesses that have no paid employees, are subject to federal income tax and have receipts of $1,000 or more ($1 or more for the Construction sector). The data consist of the number of nonemployer establishments and receipts by the 2022 North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). Statistics are available for 18 industry sectors at varying levels of industry detail at the national, state, metropolitan and micropolitan statistical area, combined statistical area and county geography levels. (Scheduled for release June 5.)
Business Trends and Outlook Survey (BTOS) — The BTOS measures business conditions on an ongoing basis. The BTOS experimental data products are representative of all employer businesses in the U.S. economy, excluding farms. The data allow greater insight into the state of the economy by providing continuous, timely information for key economic measures. Data are released biweekly and are available by sector, state, employment size and the 25 most populous metropolitan statistical areas.
Monthly Business Formation Statistics — Business Formation Statistics (BFS) provide timely, high-frequency data on business applications and employer business formations monthly. The data are available at the state, regional and national levels, and by industry sector at the national level. The next monthly BFS will be released May 14 and will include April 2025 data. 2024 Presidential Election Voting and Registration Tables Now Available — April 30 — In the 2024 presidential election, 73.6% (or 174 million people) of the citizen voting-age population was registered to vote and 65.3% (or 154 million people) voted according to new voting and registration tables released today by the U.S. Census Bureau. These data come from the 2024 Current Population Survey (CPS) Voting and Registration Supplement for the November 2024 presidential election, which surveyed the civilian noninstitutionalized population in the United States.

2023 Annual Survey of School System Finances — May 1 —The U.S. Census Bureau released the 2023 Annual Survey of School System Finances. The data files and summary tables provide new data on current spending per pupil for public elementary and secondary education (pre-K through 12th grade) in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
“Better Metrics Using Wage Record Microdata” — April 29 — The U.S. Census Bureau and the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Partnership in collaboration with the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) and the Labor Market Information (LMI) Institute, welcomed Ross Evans as he presented, “Better Metrics Using Wage Records Microdata.” In this advanced presentation, the average wages reported by the Census Bureau’s Quarterly Workforce Indicators and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages often make it seem like people are earning more than they really are, especially those in regular, everyday jobs. A better way to understand what most people actually earn is by using more detailed wage data. When utilizing log-transformed methods, this microdata shows clear patterns of what a typical worker earns.
2022 Economic Census – Establishment and Firm Size Update — April 24 — The U.S. Census Bureau released detailed industry statistics from the 2022 Economic Census about employer business establishments and firms. The release included seven tables providing data by revenue and employment size of establishments and firms for all sectors, including statistics on single unit and multiunit firms, concentration of the largest firms, legal form of organization, number of establishments, number of firms, sales, annual payroll, number of employees, operating expenses and inventories.
